SUMMER
COLLEGE BASEBALL CARD SETS
While there have
been well over 100 college baseball card sets issued, dating back
to the late 1970s, there have been only a relative handful of
summer collegiate baseball card sets produced. The oldest was the
1977 Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, issued by TCMA (well
known as a pioneer of minor league team sets). The most
publicized and well known summer issues were the two 1988 Cape
Cod League sets. One, a 30-card prospect set and the other, a
186-card set, featured many of today's stars... such as Frank
Thomas, Jeff Bagwel, Mo Vaughn, Tim Salmon and Chuck Knoblauch.
Back in 1988, these sets received more notoriety because they
were not NCAA sanctioned, than for the cards they included. This
had a great impact on the way the NCAA viewed collegiate issues
after that.
Below is a listing of many summer collegiate team sets issued. More have been
issued and will be added as time permits!
